Curious Digital Things is a small studio making visual workbooks for people who taught themselves something and then hit a wall.

The problem we keep running into

Most learning material explains the what and skips the why. You end up with a stack of memorised steps and no way to improvise when the steps run out. That gap is where people quit — not from lack of effort, but because nobody showed them the structure underneath.

Our first workbook, Piano Theory Unlocked, came out of exactly that. You can play a few pieces from memory and they sound good. Then someone asks you to play it lower, or just to play something, and you freeze. The songs were never the problem. Nobody taught you the instrument.

How we make things

• Visual before verbal. Every idea shows up as a shape you can see and copy before it gets a name. Hands on first, then read why.
• No prerequisites we don't state. If a book needs you to read sheet music, it should say so on the cover. Ours don't need it.
• Finishable. Fifteen minutes a day, a plan with an end. Not a subscription that quietly renews for years.
• Yours to keep. One-time price, instant download, print it as many times as you like. No account required, no login to lose.

Why digital

Because a PDF costs nothing to deliver, arrives in seconds, and you can print the page you're working on and cover it in pencil. A workbook you're afraid to write in isn't a workbook.
